I just want to take a moment to share a little about myself with everyone. My name is Autumn, and I’m the sole owner of eSBee Thread Co. My shop is run out of the home I share with my husband and our two teenagers. I also just started nursing school this year at 42 years old, a dream I never thought I would be able to achieve.
Before this new adventure, I spent 23 years in the beauty industry. Most of that time was behind the chair as a hairstylist, though I also managed several salons throughout my career. For a long time, I truly believed I would be doing hair for the rest of my life, but sometimes life and a bad shoulder have other plans for us.
During some time away from work, I convinced my husband to drive me to pick up a $50 sewing machine I found on Facebook Marketplace. It came with an old table (which I still use today) and a box of random little accessories that became the start of something much bigger than I could have imagined.
I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, but I knew I needed fabric, so I started hunting down scraps just to practice. I still remember making those very first stitches on a piece of fabric. Something about it sparked this immediate wave of excitement and creativity in me. I could suddenly picture all the beautiful things I might someday make.
As I improved, I opened a small Etsy shop. It took nearly a year before I made my very first sale. There were plenty of moments when I considered shutting the whole thing down, but I’m so grateful I didn’t. When that first order finally came through, I felt genuine joy knowing someone chose something I had created with my own hands.
Much like doing hair, the money was never really the point for me. What matters most is the connection, creating something meaningful that brings comfort, happiness, or a little bit of beauty into someone else’s life.
A couple of years later, I’m deeper into my sewing journey than ever, and somehow even more passionate about it than when I started. Last year, I discovered Ruby Star Society fabrics and completely fell in love. Since then, I’ve built quite a collection and now exclusively use their fabrics in all of my pieces. I’ve also slowly been de-stashing my non-RSS fabrics and plan to add a de-stash section to the website soon, so keep an eye out if you love a good fabric deal.
More than anything, I want this space to feel like a community. I’d love to hear your stories, share your creative journeys, and feature members of this wonderful sewing world here on the blog. We all come from different walks of life, but creativity has a beautiful way of connecting people.
No matter where you are in your journey, whether you’re starting over, learning something new, healing, growing, or simply trying to find joy in the middle of everyday life, there’s room for you here.
Thank you for being here and for supporting this little dream of mine. I can’t wait to see where this journey takes us.
